Pacific Economic Cooperation Council

The National Center for APEC serves as the Secretariat for the U.S. Committee for the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (US-PECC), a unique tripartite partnership of senior individuals from business and industry, government, academic and other intellectual circles. It serves as a regional forum for cooperation and policy coordination to promote economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.

PECC’s regional community building efforts led to the establishment of the official APEC process in 1989, and the Council is one of the three official non-governmental observers of the APEC process which allows PECC a seat at the table for all APEC meetings.

PECC is policy oriented, pragmatic, and anticipatory. Its work program aims for better cooperation and policy coordination in areas including on emerging technologies, trade, sustainability, and supply chain resilience.

Richard Cantor, Vice Chair of Moody’s Investor Service, is the US-PECC Chair and PECC International Co-Chair.

In August of 2023, US-PECC hosted the 30th PECC General Meeting in Seattle, Washington. A meeting summary is accessible here.
