This year NCAPEC held its annual Executive Roundtable on the margins of the first APEC Business Advisory Council Meeting of 2019 (ABAC I) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Under the theme of “Enabling a Digital Society,” the March 1 Roundtable included sessions on “Digital Transformation in Existing Industries,” “Enabling Trade in a Digital Society,” “Unlocking Human Potential” and more. The Roundtable drew over 150 representatives from the U.S. public and private sectors, ABAC members and APEC Senior Officials from across the Asia-Pacific region. Representatives from NCAPEC board companies joined thought leaders and APEC Senior Officials on panels throughout the day.

The Roundtable concluded with a gala dinner that featured a fireside chat between the Honorable Jeb Bush, Former Governor of Florida and David Abney, Chairman and CEO of UPS. In a wide-ranging discussion, Bush spoke about his father’s legacy in Asia, the need for a strong U.S.-China Relationship, and the importance of the Asia Pacific region to the United States moving forward.

Held from March 2-4, ABAC I was an opportunity for members to engage with Senior Officials to discuss issues critical for doing business in the Asia-Pacific. Senior Officials from 15 different economies shared their views on topics including WTO reform, inclusive growth and the digital economy.

In addition to the meetings, ABAC members and Senior Officials took the opportunity to tour UPS’s new Smart Hub, a next generation distribution facility, and visited the new global headquarters of NCR.
