NCAPEC Member Responses to COVID-19

The disruption caused by the largest global pandemic of the 21st Century is impossible to ignore. Travel in and out of economies is locked down, gatherings of most any kind are prohibited, and those who can continue to work from home now meet “virtually” via video and teleconference. Businesses of all sizes, across a range of industries are racing to meet the needs of consumers and adapt to the constraints presented by this new normal. Without a clear date for the resumption of “business as usual,” private industry will need to remain nimble and flexible for the foreseeable future.

Along with addressing the bottom-line impacts of the pandemic, companies across the Asia-Pacific are stepping up to support response efforts in the communities where they do business. These include NCAPEC member companies which are demonstrating their commitment to APEC economies through efforts that range from providing financial assistance to micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses, to forming alliances to find a vaccine and creating partnerships across sectors to meet demand for products and services.

To highlight these extraordinary efforts, the APEC Business Advisory Council (@APECBiz) launched a Twitter campaign focused around the hashtag #APECtogether. These daily tweets from the ABAC account underscore the vitally important role businesses and private industry play in every APEC economy. Global cooperation is more important now than ever as businesses and economies stand #APECtogether.

Periodically, this blog will be dedicated to taking a more in-depth look at the efforts of NCAPEC members in the specific industries represented on the Board of Governors. NCAPEC members are generously responding and contributing to the relief efforts for the COVID-19 pandemic. Please watch this space for more details soon.
